Purdue Pharmaceutical Opioid Bankruptcy Claim

Deadline to file a claim is July 30th, 2020. Longo Legal, PLLC is a law firm and does NOT represent Purdue Pharma, L.P.

Purdue Pharma L.P. is a privately held pharmaceutical company that has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on September 15, 2019 in New York. As a part of the bankruptcy settlement, a considerable amount of money has been set aside to be distributed to individuals who have become addicted to their opioids or have died from taking those opioids.  Also, the bankruptcy has a plan to settle litigation with dozens of states and other institutional plaintiffs who say the company fueled the opioid crisis.

Purdue Pharma makes pain medicines such as hydromorphone, oxycodone, fentanyl, codeine and hydrocodone. It is widely known for the production of drugs such as MS Contin, Oxycontin, and Ryzolt. In 1972, Contin (a controlled drug-release system) was developed. In 1984, its extended-release formulation of morphine, MS Contin was released. In 1996 its extended-release formulation of oxycodone, OxyContin was released.

The Sackler family, owners of Purdue Pharma, is hoping the bankruptcy reorganization process “will ensure its assets are dedicated for the public benefit. This process will also bring the thousands of claims into a single, efficient forum where the settlement can be finalized, reviewed by the bankruptcy court to ensure it is fair and just and then implemented,” the Sacklers said.

If you or one of your loved one has taken any of the Purdue opioids and become addicted or has died as a result of taking these opioids, you should make a claim against the bankruptcy. It is important to know that you do NOT have to hire a law firm to make a claim to the bankruptcy court. You CAN do this on your own and without a lawyer. However, if you want guidance in making a claim,  you have the right to hire a law firm. Please contact us by calling 855-566-4648 or by filling out our contact form.  We may be able to help you make a successful claim as a creditor to the Purdue bankruptcy. All information will be kept extremely confidential.
