Knee Implant Failure

  • Home

Knee replacement implants should last for many years. In the years since its approval, the FDA has received numerous complaints from DePuy Attune® patients who reported complications with their implant. DePuy Orthopaedics’ Attune Knee Replacement® you received should provide you with pain-free flexibility and would last you for 20 years.  But that has not been the case, and instead, you have experienced pain and suffering – maybe requiring additional surgery to repair or replace your implant.  You are not alone as many have suffered this same experience through the years.  Longo Legal, PLLC offers free legal reviews to individuals who think they have been injured by a medical device. Our primary focus is on those patients who have had the Attune® Implant, however, Longo Legal, PLLC will review your potential case regardless of which knee implant you have.

Attune Knee Implant® System and Recall

To improve stability and range of motion in patients requiring knee replacement surgery, the Attune Knee System® medical device was designed by DePuy Synthes.  However, rather than solving the issues, these devices have been linked to complaints from implant recipients who have experienced pain and premature device failure resulting in the need for revision surgery, among other serious problems.

The U. S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) announced a Class II recall of the DePuy Attune knee implant in 2015.  This recall was the result of reported temporary or medically reversible negative health issues caused by the Attune® knee implant. That recall has since been terminated, but the Attune® Knee Implants are still having problems.

Attune Knee System® Complications

Some of the complications which can ensue from the Attune® Knee System are:

  • Decreased range of motion
  • Fracture of device components or metal shedding debris
  • Loosening or instability of the implant
  • Heat or warmth in the knee or Infection
  • Tibial subsidence
  • Swelling around the knee joint
  • Joint pain and Nerve damage
  • Fracture of the femur or tibia
  • Device dislocation
  • Misalignment of implant components
  • Clicking or grinding sounds when walking
  • The need for revision surgery
