Pradaxa Bleeding Lawsuits

  • Home

Longo Legal, PLLC is reviewing potential lawsuits for consumers who have experienced internal bleeding while taking the prescription drug Pradaxa. Pradaxa a blood thinner that has been associated with reports of serious and life-threatening side effects. Pradaxa is an alternative to the drug Coumadin (Warfarin) that prevents strokes in individuals with atrial fibrillation.

Shortly after Pradaxa was introduced, there were more than 260 Pradaxa deaths from internal bleeding. The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) published their quarterly report on adverse events between April and June 2011. According to the ISMP, Pradaxa was associated with 856 reports of serious, disabling or fatal injury in the second quarter of 2011. Of those reports, there were 117 patient deaths and 511 cases of Pradaxa bleeding events. The median age of the patient was 80 years old.

Pradaxa Warning

It is a common fact the blood thinners like Pradaxa can cause internal bleeding. The manufacturer of Pradaxa is Boehringer Ingelheim. Sales in the United States began in October 2010. It is the position of Longo Legal, PLLC, that the manufacturer of Padaxa did not provide adequate warnings about the risk of Pradaxa bleeding side effects, especially very serious side effects.

The side effects from Pradaxa can be life threatening. And to make matters worse the side effects of Pradaxa are not easy to treat. Pradaxa does not have an antidote for excessive bleeding. Pradaxa’s bleeding side effects can only be treated by dialysis.

Pradaxa Injuries

Many consumers who feel they have been injured by Pradaxa have already filed a lawsuit. Many who took Padaxa, or had a loved one who died after taking Pradaxa, feel that Boehringer Ingelheim failed to adequately research the medication or warn them about the serious and potentially life-threatening side effects of the drug. If you or a loved one took Pradaxa, the side effects may have been:

Internal Bleeding or Gastrointestinal Bleeding Brain Hemorrhage Kidney Bleeding Heart Attack Death from any of the above

If a loved one has died as a result of taking Pradaxa, or if you or a loved one has experienced excessive bleeding from taking Pradaxa, call Longo Legal, PLLC toll free at 855-566-4648. There is absolutely no charge unless there is a recovery made on your behalf.
